The Pre-Master programme prepares students for entry into academic Master’s programmes at partner universities in the Netherlands or abroad.
By offering the pre-master within the curriculum, students gain a significant time advantage. They can complete the required academic preparation during their studies at BUas, allowing them to transition directly into a WO (research university) Master’s programme upon graduation, without the need for an additional bridging year. Depending on the specific Master’s programme and institutional agreements, the pre-master can be completed either at BUas or at the partner university.
This semester-long programme addresses academic requirements not included in the core Applied Data Science & AI curriculum and focuses on subject-specific content needed for admission into selected Master’s programmes.
This structure reflects the academic pathway in the Netherlands. Universities abroad often accept students directly into Master’s programmes without requiring a pre-master, as the HBO degree is formally recognized as a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.). There is no formal distinction made between HBO and WO bachelor’s degrees in many international admissions processes.
