Dean van Aswegen, M.Sc.

Senior Lecturer

Dean van Aswegen is a lecturer with a background in aerospace engineering and a strong focus on artificial intelligence. His teaching and research experience spans robotics, computer vision, natural language processing, and MLOps. Prior to his current role, he lectured at the University of the Witwatersrand and held leadership positions in aviation tech startups, including CTO of a YCombinator-backed autonomous aircraft company. Dean is also part of a taskforce driving AI adoption across academic disciplines and frequently speaks on the future of AI and education.
