Avril is a lecturer with an industry background in consulting and data science. After graduating with a Bachelors in Electronic & Computer Engineering from Dublin City University in 2017, she started her career in Accenture Ireland in their Technology practice. There she spent the first four years working in client facing projects in a wide variety of industries including products and financial services. During this time she was award the Accenture Ireland Technology Analyst Group FY19 Client Delivery award for delivering significant value to clients and making a valuable addition to the workplace and providing exceptional service. She also in January 2020 was selected to take part in the prestigious TechStar leadership programme for high performing Accenture Technology analysts and consultants.
Whilst studying for her Masters in Artificial Intelligence, she moved into an internal Accenture team in Data Science innovation working on Global IT proof of concept projects on internal business problems using Agile methodology, data analysis, data science and machine learning. Given her background, Avril is well versed in stakeholder management, dynamic environments and working with international multi-cultural teams.
Outside of her studies and work, Avril has a strong passion for encouraging future generations to consider careers in STEMs fields, especially for under-represented groups such as women. She has been involved in many initiatives including mentoring at STEM events for young women and volunteering with organisations to help older people with technology.
